Hi, I’m Julie!
I’m an illustrator and surface pattern designer from Vancouver, BC. I make art that imbues feelings of pop and play, using bold cheery colours and geometric shapes. My end goal is to add delight and joy in people’s every day through my artwork.
a little about ME
I went to the Ontario College of Art & Design for fine art where I dedicated much time to my first love (photography), learning to tell stories through the observation of the urban landscape and the people who live in it. After graduating, I traveled a windy road, working in various roles — web designer, visual effects playback artist for sci-fi TV, knitwear designer, and I even had a couple interning stints along the way in London (web design) and New York (motion graphics). Many years later, I rediscovered my love of drawing and learned how to make repeating patterns to my delight!
When I am not making art or knitting, I like to spend time with my family usually examining things really closely (i.e., flowers and foliage) to draw later. Living with an old growth forest at my doorstep, I’m surrounded by unending inspiration in every season.
I make art on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam people.
